Clients

Their engagements, their documents, what you last said to them, what they owe you, when they are due. One record — and one import that gets your whole book in there, whatever you are coming from.

A client record in LedgerOS, with engagements, documents, communications and billing on one page.

What it does

  • Engagements, documents, messages, invoices and deadlines on the one record
  • Import from a CSV: it detects your columns and shows you duplicates before it creates anything
  • A vault for the client logins currently living in somebody’s spreadsheet
  • Related businesses under one client login, and health signals when one goes quiet

How it works

Your whole book, in before the coffee goes cold

Upload whatever CSV your current system spits out and it works out your columns for you — Client Name, Company, Customer, Business Name all land in the same place. Then it shows you the rows it thinks are duplicates and lets you decide, before it creates a single thing.

  • No candidate at all → defaults to create, because that is what the import is for
  • A near candidate → defaults to skip, and is counted for you before you commit
  • Matches record what they matched on: EIN, email, or name
  • Presets for TaxDome, Canopy, Drake, UltraTax and Lacerte column layouts
  • Every number on the review screen is the database’s count over the whole batch, never the length of the page you are looking at

One page instead of six tabs

Their engagements, their documents, what you last said to them, what they owe, what is due. In most firms that is six systems joined by typing the client name into each of them.

  • Contacts carry roles, and the firm sets what those roles are called
  • Individual names display first-last or last-first, firm-wide, because both conventions are real
  • A credential vault for the logins a firm holds on a client’s behalf
  • Groups, for a family or a set of related entities
  • A QuickBooks Online link that matches rather than duplicating

You find out before the resignation email

Recurring revenue is very good at hiding churn until it is done. Health scores each client on the signals your firm decides matter, so the account that has gone quiet since October is a number you can see rather than a conversation you did not expect.

Questions

What happens if I import the same file twice?
The second run matches the rows it already created and defaults them to skip, with the count disclosed before you commit.
Can one person log in for several businesses?
Yes. A client who is an S-corp, a rental LLC and a personal 1040 signs into the portal once and sees one combined list.
